Get yourself seen by Prospective Employers Online

With the internet ever expanding with new websites coming online everyday the World Wide Web is a very congested place for all sorts of sites needless to say on how to look for or find a job type websites.

There are all sorts of Job websites that you can find on the web today from Monster to Total Jobs and Jobs UK to name just a few but have you ever thought that you as a prospective job hunter using the internet looking for a particular job via job sites that a Prospective Employer(s) might also be doing the same.

So if an employer is using Job sites to look for prospective candidates you must ensure that an employer is able to find you latest statistics from a Career Builder survey surprisingly reveal that 45% of employers use Social Networking sites like “Facebook” to research job candidates that’s quite an increase from the previous year when only 22% used social networking sites.

So what can you as a candidate looking for a Job online make yourself stand out from the rest of the crowd so that an employer can find you online?

When employers post jobs online they can quickly become inundated with job resumes from prospective candidates so you need to make it easy for the employer to find you. Employers often seek passive candidates these are candidates that are qualified for the post but are not necessarily looking for work but would be ideal and interested if the right job came along so you need first of all to make your professional credentials readily accessible online and make them stand out.

Sourcing For Candidates.

Employers in addition to looking at and reviewing resumes that have been posted to there websites and to such job sites like Monster and Career Builder etc employers are actively looking for passive candidates and they are trawling the internet trying to find the best people to hire for their company whether or not the candidate has expressed any interest in there particular company.

Plus Employers now have other internet tools they can use as well as personally looking for candidates to employ via the net sites like AirsSourcepoint a site which helps source the right candidate for a particular company and helps the employer in picking the right person for a particular job or role.

Monster Job site also has a candidate sourcing or tool to help employers choose the right candidate it is called “Smart Find” here employers can go through various profiles of candidates with regard to education, job title, skills, plus any prior employers using systems like this assists hiring managers in picking then contacting the right person for the job.

Social Networking Sites.

As mentioned before Employers are now turning to networking site like “Facebook” and LinkedIn to look for candidates here HR managers are adding there own profiles to these sites and therefore making connections with prospective candidates for employment.

But what the prospective Job Seeker needs to do is to make sure that his particular resume is as to say findable i.e. your particular skills, job experience and roles plus any previous employers are easily found by employers. So some respective editing or fine tuning of your resume online and any other related information needs to show up in search results which have been generated by prospective employers who may just have your ideal job.

Firstly make your professional information available to employers this will make it easier for employers to find you therefore your resume online should include specific information regarding your credentials and particular set of qualifications.

Try to include Keywords in your resume for the job that matches your particular qualifications if you are not sure which ones to use then job search engines like “Indeed.com” can help you pick out these main keywords once you have found them use them in your resume. Also include the following information.

Job Titles: Employers sometimes look for candidates with particular skills or specific experience in a particular field of work and will search for a that online i.e. Assistant Manager, Telephone sales advisor, Pharmacy Dispenser and so on so be specific.

Qualifications: Once again be specific about your qualifications and to the point if you have a HND in Engineering then put it in your resume plus if you have done any voluntary work include this as well.

Affiliations: It’s always a good idea to list any professional organisations that you may have joined and include these in your resume.

Plus update your resume on a regular basis the reason been that some resume databases like to keep up to date with postings and will only allow employers to search for the newest or most recent resume postings so updating your resume on a regular basis will make sure that prospective employers are able to find each time.

Career and Networking Sites.

We all know the impact of Facebook on the net so its no surprise that Facebook is now been used by so many to enhance there careers and even find jobs. So just as your resume create your profile on your facebook page and include such things as your experience and your qualifications if you have any connections or associations with professional organisations and even your interest and hobbies.

But beware personal information that may be relevant to say such sites like Facebook or Myspace etc may not be the sort of information that a employer or hiring manager might want to see when looking to hire a candidate for a particular job from Medical to an Automotive job or post and it may be inappropriate so keep your personal information private and only let people see it who you are comfortable with.

Keeping your presence online and updating it on a regular basis can only help employers find you more easily and therefore give you more chance of landing your ideal job or career?
