How many types of different shops do you think there are in the famous town of Stratford upon Avon. Stratford has an abundance of all types of shops from the antique to the modern to Department Stores so the town caters for all sorts of different shopping tastes and experiences. Shopping in Stratford upon Avon can range from small independent retailers to major high stores like BHS and M&S some are located in the town centre some are located in the modern Maybird Shopping park on the Birmingham Road.

Visitors to the historic town have an excellent choice of shops in Stratford upon Avon to choose from as they browse around the shops in the town centre while taking in the beautiful gardens around the River Avon or maybe taking time out from the busy shopping schedule and checking out the famous attractions in Stratford upon Avon

 

If it is the major retailers, you are looking for then BHS and the Marks and Spencer stores are both located at Bridge Street in the town centre. At these well known high street stores you will find clothing for both men and women as well as for the kids. The M&S store also has a Food and wine section and a technology department with all the latest Televisions and laptops for sale and a home section.The BHS store on the other hand has a wedding planning section for that all important day and a lighting department.

There is also a M&S at the Maybird Shopping Park which is located on the outskirts of Stratford on the A3400 Birmingham Road.

Another well known high street store that is popular with the shoppers is Debenhmas this store is located at Wood Street and once inside you will find a Health and Beauty section with all the latest perfumes and cosmetics. Their is also a comprehensive clothing department where you will find Menswear and Women’s clothing accessories. If you want to sit down and relax for a while in the store, then try out the excellent restaurant or have a coffee at the Debenhams Café.

If you want to rest your feet for a while and have a quick bite to eat in-between all the busy sightseeing then look out for the shops offering some food and drink in Stratford

If you like, your tea then a visit to Bensons House of Tea is necessary located on Henley Street the teahouse is a unique teashop selling teas from all over the world from Indian Tea to Chinese Tea. As well as specialist teas like Fruit Tea and Ayurveda Tea to Flavoured Black tea to name just a few available from the wide selection on offer.

Also, while in the shop pick up some great tea accessories like teapots and strainers to Beatrix Potter mugs and some Alice in Wonderland Fine bone china tea sets. Another popular teashop is the Real Tea Café located at Wood Street here relax and enjoy a great cup of tea or coffee at this fine café plus enjoy some food including delicious cakes and a great service as well.

Stratford also has some great sweet shops you can visit and while there buy and taste some delicious sweets. For instance the Stratford Sweet Shop which is located on Henley Street is a great sweet shop if you like old English confectionary at its finest. Also try out the very well known and popular Thornton’s shop, located on Bridge Street, well known for its chocolates all neatly boxed up or buy loose if you wish. Thornton’s shops always have a wide selection of confectionary and most likely you will be spoilt for choice by the sweets and mouth-watering chocolates.

If you want to divert from some of the most famous sweet shops then try the Truffles Chocalatier on Henley Street where you can buy delicious chocolates.

Just like any other town Stratford respectively has some very well known Supermarkets where you can do your local food shopping for the week.

Sainsbury’s is located on Bridge Street selling al sorts of foodstuffs and a bakery as well as self-checkout and national lottery tickets available as well as 1 ATM on site for cash convenience. If you want to take advantage of some discounts while out food shopping then try out the Somerfield Supermarket store, which is located in the town square 1 Fountain way to be exact with general food stuffs at discounted prices. The Co-operative Food store which is located on Henley Street is another well-known supermarket chain selling all types of foodstuffs and drinks.

We all like wine then Stratford has some excellent wine shops where you can taste some great wine. Vin Neuf wine shop is located at Union Street in the town centre. If you like your wines then a visit to Vin Neuf will be a delight. The shop sells all types of wines from reds to whites to Champagne and sparkling to organic juices and their is also a unique tasting forum and cellar at the shop as well. Vinology which is located on Henley Street is a specialist wine shop said to offer the most dynamic and diverse range of wines in the Warwickshire Area. Cheese always goes well with wine then you must visit one of Stratford’s most famous specialist cheese shops that are Paxton and Whitfield. Specialist cheese shop that also sells wines the ideal compliment to cheese. You can buy all types of cheeses at this shop from hard cheese to blue cheese to fresh cheese. The shop also sells fine foods such as preserves and chutneys hams and pates and jams. In addition to that, you can also buy accessories to serve your cheese on like Plates and Platters to Boards.The Paxton and Whitfield shop can be found at Wood Street in Stratford.

A visit to Stratford would not be complete without a visit to a gift shop or a jewellery shop Stratford has many to offer like the Past Times gift shop which is located at Wood Street. Past Times is a fantastic gift shop selling hundreds of items and accessories for the home and garden to gifts for men and women and children to jewellery. Other gift and souvenir shops include the Souvenir shop on Henley Street and the Gift Box a souvenir and clothing shop selling t-shirts to sweat shirts as well as small souvenirs such as books and key rings also located on Henley Street. Most of the jewellery shops in Stratford are located on Henley Street like H2 Jewellers and the Jewellery Stop and Stratford Town Jewellers selling British designed jewellery from bracelets to earrings to necklaces to scarves and rings.

If you are looking for something a bit more specialised when it comes to jewellery then visit Howards which is located at Wood Street. Howards is a specialist silver jewellery shop as well as standard and fine jewellery all sold at this shop.

You may also want to take a rest from the obvious shopping route and visit some of the fine art galleries in the town. At these shops you will find fine art for sale as well as glass sculptures and ceramics take for instance the Montpellier Gallery located at Chapel Street. At this gallery see and experience fine art as well as ceramics,printmaking,glass,sculptures and exhibitions by famous artists from all over the world. In addition, visit the WhiteWall Galleries located at Sheep Street and enjoy its fine art from all over the world.

You can also visit the B&W Thornton shop, which is located at Henley Street this shop specialises in pottery selling Moorcroft pottery and Moorcroft lamps as well as Moorcroft Shakespeare Ginger Jars as well as loads of other collectable pottery vases and jars. Also look up one of the popular antique shops in Stratford that is the Henley Street Antique Centre for some fascinating antiques.

Other shops in Stratford you can visit include the Shakespeare Gift Shop and the Little Oxford Gift Shop which is located on Henley Street selling a wide range of gifts and souvenirs to remind you of your visit to Stratford upon Avon.

Apart from the obvious shopping for clothes etc Stratford has a good selection of Toy shops to pick from as well for instance you have the Much Ado About Toys shop aptly named with a play on words after the Shakespeare play” Much Ado About Nothing”. The toy shop has a vast array of toys with some well known makes such as scalextric,corgi and hornby toys to name just a few. Much Ado About Toys is located at the Old Bus Depot Guild Street Stratford.

We all know the world famous Teddy Bear shop in Stratford and home to this shop is the Curtis Brae shop on 32 Henley Street in Stratford. This shop sells Teddy Bears, collectable Russian Dolls and the famous Charlie Bears collection plus toys for babies and famous Story Book Characters like Winnie the Pooh to Teletubbies. You may also want to check out Doug Brown Accessories at 19 Henley Street Stratford this shop sells gifts and games.

As Mentioned before the Maybird Shopping Park which is on the A3400 Birmingham Road is a massive shopping centre housing some famous retail shops as well as fast food chains.If you like to do your shopping without the hassle of looking for shops then the shopping park is the ideal location.

At the Maybird Shopping park you will find a whole array of shops like Marks and Spencer to Next to Brantano for all your retail and clothes shopping.

Then you have Boots for all your heatlh and beauty products to Clarks for shoes.The retail park also houses B&Q for all your DIY needs and Halfords the well known motor superstore for all your car accessories. You also have Sportsworld for all your sports and sporting goods/ fitness attire and equpiment to Argos the quick and easy way to shop

Plus if you want to rest your feet and have a bite to eat then you can pick from the Pizza Hut or maybe try the Subway for a tasty sandwich and have a coffee at Costa. 

Therefore there is a whole array of different shops you can visit when in Stratford upon Avon.
