There are an abundant number of places you can visit during the upcoming Easter Break in the Warwickshire area and in Stratford upon Avon from Historical Museums to Theme parks and Water parks to fascinating stately homes and art galleries to activity parks for the kids and adults alike.
In a earlier article we concentrated on just a few of the parks that you could visit while on your Easter Break so here are a few more that would be of interest when visiting the Beautiful Warwickshire area.
Warwick Castle
Go back in time when you visit the fantastic Warwick Castle and learn about the torture and the passion and about the people that lived within its walls. Take a walk up to the towers and look over the ramparts as you peer into the arrow slits that were used by expert archers when facing attack from enemies.
But Warwick castle has a lot more to offer than just a castle there is a whole programme of events including jousting birds pf prey and the worlds largest trebuchet plus in addition to all that you can also experience the Arthurian legend at the Merlin Exhibition with its magic mirror and join Merlin in his quest to complete and fulfil his destiny.
Once you have had a good look round then you may want to relax and have something to eat the castle has some excellent restaurants with fantastic views whether you want to eat outside or inside there is a good choice like the 18th century Coach House restaurant or the Mediaeval Undercroft Restaurant both serving excellent food and drink or take your lunch at the Riverside Pavilion which is set in the beautiful landscaped gardens of the castle. Plus a day at the castle would not be complete without a visit to the gift shop where you will be able to pick up a whole array of gifts.
Warwick Castle is located just 2 miles from J15 of the M40 and is clearly signposted.
Leamington Spa art gallery
The Leamington Spa Art gallery is a museum where you do not have to be quiet as it runs a special programme of hand on activities that are specially geared towards the under fives. These activities include joining Haddie the circus elephant as you explore the family gallery and learn what life was like for children during the Victorian era in Leamington plus enjoy dressing up and interactive exhibits where you can learn by touch.
Plus why not visit the gallery on the last Saturday of each month when they hold the Art Cart Family Fun Sessions these are informal family friendly events where children and families alike can enjoy some fun with the creative activities in the galleries which can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
The Leamington Spa Art Gallery is located at the Royal Pump Rooms the Parade Leamington Spa.
Lunt Roman Fort
The Lunt Roman Fort takes you back to the year 60 A.D it is the time of Queen Boudica as they rebel and fight against the might of the Roman Empire as the Romans are defeated in a battle somewhere in the Midlands the only solution is to build a number of fortifications across the region and a result one of these fortifications is the Lunt Roman Fort.
The fort has been partially reconstructed and is respectively made of timber you can explore the fort and stand on the ramparts or maybe explore the exhibition in the granary or take your imagination elsewhere and pretend you are a trainer of horses in the gyrus a unique feature of the fort not found anywhere else in the Roman Empire.
The Fort also holds battle re-enactments during there occasion days which by the way is the best time to visit the fort also on these days there are activities you can take place in such as making shields out of cardboard etc.
The Lunt Roman Fort is located on the Coventry Road Baginton Warwickshire.
Midland Air Museum
Whether you are a aircraft enthusiast or not a day out at the Midland air Museum is worthwhile the museum has more than 30 historic aircraft which include both military and civil aircraft plus aero engines are also on show plus artefacts and a whole array of memorabilia with a particular collection which is related to Sir Frank Whittle who was the engineer who designed the jet engine and made high speed aircraft travel as well as economical air travel possible.
Some of the planes that you can see at the museum include the Hawker Sea Hawk and the Gloster Meteor and planes from the Hawker Siddeley Group and an AVRO Vulcan bomber plane.
But the museum also has planes from all over the world like the Swedish SAAB J29 and which is a very rare plane and the French Mystere IVA fighter plane as well as a number of fascinating exhibits from WWII.
The Midland Air Museum is located off the A45 on the Baginton Road and is well signposted.
Avon Boating
If you want to spend a relaxing time on the River Avon during the Easter Break then a visit to the Avon Boating Centre in Stratford upon Avon is a must. Here you will be able to hire all sorts of boats so that you can make your way down the beautiful River Avon as you pass by such famous attractions like the Holy Trinity Church and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
At the Avon Boating Centre you can hire Small Boats which include Pleasure Punts and Canoes to Outboard Motor Boats but if you need something a bit more substantial because they may be a group of you then Private Charter Passenger Boats and even a Venetian Gondola can be hired for the day.
Also the Chanderly at the Stratford Marina you can pick up a whole array of boating goods and the servicing of boats at the Mariner outboard servicing centre and the repair and renovation of modern and not so modern river craft.
The Avon Boating and the Boathouse are located at The Boathouse Swans Nest Lane.
So you should be able to easily find something to do or see for the whole family while visiting the Warwickshire Area over the Easter Break or at anytime during the year.
