A History: Global Gathering

The first ever Global Gathering was held in 2001 on Saturday the 28^th of July by the Angel Music Group the company which is behind Godskitchen at Long Marston Airfield located in Warwickshire which is near to Stratford upon Avon and has now become the venue for the event every year and has now become a well established community event for the Warwickshire Area if not the whole of the UK.

The first ever festival began at 4pm on the 28^th of July and ran all the way through until 7am on the 29^th of July and the event was a complete success with a massive 25,000 sell out attendance.

The massive success of the first festival led to Godskitchen staging further festivals in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and then every year since and it soon became the ultimate music event of the summer in the UK.Over the years the attendance at the Global Gathering has also increased with 35,000 attending the festival in 2004 which then held to another one been staged in 2005 over the entire weekend with facilities at the site been improved thus allowing for a 45,000 capacity.

The electronic dance music festival has surpassed all expectations and has won the crown for best UK Festival for the last 2yrs as awarded by the DJ magazine awards.

Plus the Global Gathering has truly become Global with other similar music events that have been held in Australia,Belarus,the Ukraine,Poland,Russia and Turkey,and in 2006 the event went over the pond to the USA and was held in Miami Florida with some very famous American acts such as Adam Freeland and the Nine Inch Nails performing to name just a few.

For those who love there Dance Music the first ever event in 2001 saw Dance and Music acts like the Artful Dodger to Jugde Jules the world famous DJ and David Morales the Grammy award winning DJ who was born in New York known for his fantastic mixes of Music perform on stage plus a whole host of world famous dance music acts from all over the world.

Global Gathering:

So this year respectively 2011 is going to be a massive year for this huge festival of music with all sorts of Dance and Music events planned and a whole host of well known acts that will be performing live on stage. Last year was the tenth anniversary of the Global Gathering and it was the most spectacular festival to date with an attendance of about 50,000 people who soaked up the fantastic atmosphere of the festival as they danced and partied to some of the world’s best and most prolific DJs and bands and with over 100 artists and techno music artists from Europe and the rest of the world. 

Lovers of music were not disappointed with over 150 most well known and exciting DJs from all over the world playing over 16 stages and new additions were made and added at the two day festival last year to include Carl Cox’s the Revolution continues Arena and Toolroom vs. Size and the Electric Arena. Plus if that was not already enough some of the most spectacular and state of the art visuals were also on display to go with the fantastic electronic music. So if you were impressed by the organisation and the sheer content of the talent on show last year then this year will definitely not be a year to miss!

The Godskitchen Boom box was also back last year due to popular demand (first debut in 2009) the huge and spectacular rectangular structure was the staging platform for some of the biggest names at the Global Gathering last year as well as been home to the latest DJ equipment it also incorporated a giant multi faceted screen which displayed and projected lighting and visuals in perfect synchronization with the booming electronic music.

Visitors to the festival have enjoyed improving excellent onsite Campsite facilities such as a separate VIP area complete with a private campsite, Jacuzzi,and it even has a outdoor cinema and hot showers and for those visitors who want to take a break from all the music and dancing there is the Urban Village you can visit with its BMX riders,skate ramps,break dancers and of course hip hop DJs and a special area known as the golden circle where VIP ticket holders get preferential treatment and a fantastic view of the main performing stage.

Some of last years headlining acts at the Global Gathering were Dizze Rascal and the massive Faithless and you would have also seen  Eric Prydz,Goldie,Armin Van Buuren and Judge Jules to name just a few of the massive acts and 2011 will hopefully be the same if not better. 

The Global Gathering Music Festival begins on Friday 29^th July 2011 through to Saturday 30^th July 2011.

Who are Godskitchen.

Godskitchen are a international organisation that are associated with dance music that organise events particularly to do with music and are well established in the UK and the USA they also run there own nightclub known as AIR which is located in the UK in the city of Birmingham in the district of Digbeth.
