The Christmas season in Stratford is always a very busy one with an array of events to go to and see from Theatre to Charity events to Christmas markets and fairs through to magical Christmas cruises on the River Avon.

In addition to that you have the Traditional Stratford Christmas lights switch on to the fantastic Christmas shopping in Stratford  all in all Stratford is a great place to visit during the festive season.

Christmas Events: There are a wide a varied array of Christmas events that take place during xmas as for instance at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust who are responsible for keeping and maintaining the five Shakespeare houses. You can enjoy various Christmas activities from enjoying an evening at Anne Hathaways Cottage where you will be able to mix in some carols together with mince pies and mulled wines and take a rare look around the cottage as well.

Or visit Nash House and see a typical display of a traditional Tudor Christmas feast and learn and see how the Tudors celebrated Christmas

In addition, recipe cards with modern and Tudor recipes are available to take away

On the other hand, you may want to take part in the Halls Croft Festive Quiz where the whole family can explore the customs and the History of Tudors at Christmas time with an enjoyable Christmas quiz for children. After the quiz take a tour around the Jacobean home as it will be adorned and decorated for Christmas.

A visit to Stratford upon Avon at anytime would not be complete without a visit to Shakespeare’s Birthplace. Over the festive period, the home of Shakespeare is brought to life with a candlelit tour of the house and Christmas lights decorate the garden with holly and ivy hanging in the hall and the parlour. You can also enjoy mince pies and mulled wine and while in the house you will be entertained by the Shakespeare Aloud actors and to end, your tour of the house visit the gift shop for that all important xmas gift.

Fancy a xmas cruise down the River Avon then you will not be disappointed when you decide to go on the Stratford Magical Christmas Cruise.

The cruise is run by the Stratford Town Walk together with Bancroft Cruisers, as you cruise down the River Avon listen to stories of old all about Stratford and be entertained by members of the magic circle.

All the boats are centrally heated and also come equipped with a mini bar for refreshments while you enjoy a xmas cruise down the river.

The Stratford town walk also hold-guided tours of Stratford on Christmas day.

The Christmas Day Guided Walk begins at Waterside as you listen to old-fashioned sayings and hear stories of plagues and floods and fires. Moreover, do not worry about your Christmas dinner you will be back in time for lunch.

Other fascinating and educational walks that take place over the festive period are on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day and finally New Years Day.

Then you have the Stratford Christmas market held every Thursday with a chance to do some late night Christmas shopping in the town centre.

Most shops are open until 10pm some 9pm with free parking at allocated car parks in the town. Plus while you are out shopping then visit the famous Stratford Xmas Lights said to be one of the most spectacular displays in the world.

In addition to all these events expect Christmas fairs held at the Shakespeare Hospice as well as other Christmas charity events together with pantomimes at the Civic Hall and Coxs Yard all in all making Stratford upon Avon a great place to visit during Christmas.
