You might be looking to change your car for a new model or a used or second hand car so it wise to know where to look for new and used cars for sale in Stratford as well as car dealers in Stratford. So wheter you are looking to buy a used or a new Ford or a BMW then taking in a few factors before buying your ideal car may be helpful.

Factors and questions to ask when considering buying a used car.

When buying used or second hand cars for sale you need respectively to take into consideration a few factors to do with the car you are buying and ask some appropriate questions so here are a few questions you can ask the used car dealer to find out more about the vehicle.

·        Where or from who was the vehicle brought from: Was the car traded in to the dealership i.e. a part exchange or was the car bought at a car auction (most common method of acquiring used cars) .

·       If you know someone who is a mechanic then ask the car dealer if you can bring this person along with you to inspect the car both mechanically including the bodywork.

·       Get a full vehicle inspection done on the car:Ask the car dealer if he or she is wiling to let you do this. Both the AA and the RAC provide this service with discounts available for existing customers. You can get a comprehensive inspection or a basic one depending on how old the vehicle is.A Comprehensive inspection will include checking all the bodywork for defects and a full mechanical and electrical components inspection and the interior, inculding a 10 mile road test and a full verbal and written report.

·       Car History Checked: It is vital that you get the history of the car checked regardless of what the used car dealer may tell you. Once again Motoring Organisations  like the AA,and the RAC, and other independent bodies can provide you with the history of the car to do with such things as has the car been written off or has it ever been recorded stolen, does it have any outstanding finance on the car and so on. Data checks like these do not cost much and could save you a lot of hassle if the used car you are buying has a shady past. So ask the car dealer if he is happy to let you carry out a data check on the vehicle

·       Pay in Cash: Ask the car dealer that if you pay in cash for the car how much discount will they give you or make on the asking price. By paying in cash for the car inform the car dealer that you are in effect eliminating all the paperwork that goes with it. If they do not offer you a discount on the asking price then inform then that you are going to finance the money yourself through your bank or building society rather than sign up to a finance agreement with them. Most used car dealers make money via finance agreements where the interest charged is normally higher (i.e. APR) than what you could get from your own bank.

·       When was the car last serviced: You can check this by looking at the service history of the car i.e. stamps in the service booklet in addition ask the car dealer if the car has been recently serviced while in his possession.

·       Ask the dealer if they are prepared to throw in any extras on the car if you make a definite deal on the car these could include the fitting of a CD changer or an upgrade on the interior of the car.

·       Do they do Part Exchange: Would the dealer accept you current vehicle in part exchange is so at what price. Most used car dealers will offer you a minimum of a £1000 part exchange off the price of the car they are selling. You could also get a valuation online for your car at a site like “We Buy Any Car” but beware the valuation that you get online may not be the amount you actually get for your car. This is because the valuation is subject to another inspection at a location where you will need to take your car, here a full inspection will be carried out and in most cases, the valuation is always lower.

Remember it nots always about price when buying a used car as you could end up spending thousands on a used car only to find out that weeks later it breaks down or it has a history that has not been checked out.
